Alpine Ontario is putting on a 2 day preseason camp at Moonstone

Alpine Ontario is putting on a 2 day preseason camp at Moonstone on December 6-7th for U10-U12-U14 and our club has been personally invited!. This camp is not organized by Adanac, and will therefore be considered an extra event outside of our calendar. If you wish to attend, you will need to register through AOA here

You will also be responsible to book your own accomodations and travel. There are a few Adanac families planning on going.

Mt St Louis Moonstone (MSLM), the Glacier Ski Club are Alpine Ontario are excited to host U10/U12/U14 athletes, all coaches and all officials to a 2-day BACK TO SNOW CAMP! Think of this as your opportunity to test out your new gear and dial in everything before you head to your first away camp. The camp will be lead by AOA’s U12 Athletic Consultant Bennett Carterand Mitch McDermid, Head Coach Glacier Ski Club along with leaders from the Canadian Ski Instructor Alliance (CSIA) andCanadian Ski Coaches (CSC).

DETAILS & SCHEDULE: 

When: Friday, Dec 6-Saturday Dec 7, 2019 – DAILY TIMING LISTED BELOW FOR ATHLETE AND COACHES – please note they are listed separately.
Where: Mt St Louis Moonstone
Who: U10-U16 athletes, all coaches and officials
What: Back to Snow Athlete * Coaching & Officials Camp!
How much?: The 2-day price for athletes is $170.00 and for coaches it is $50/day. Please log in to register here>

  • DEC 5, COACHES: AOA will host a ‘Coach Skill Evaluator Training’ by invitation only. This is to prepare for the Dec 6-7 days with the athletes and additional coaches.
  • DEC 6 & 7, COACHES: 2-day on-snow coach education for all level of coaches – get all your licensing credits for the season, learn from the best in Ontario including CSIA Level 4 leaders and bring your athletes for a pre-season tune-up! COACHES: Check-In Opens 8:30am On-Snow 9:00am-2:30pm Lunch 11:30-12:30 Coach De-brief from 2:30-3:30pm
  • DEC 6 & 7, ATHLETES: U10-U16 athletes – test out your equipment, skills and ski fitness in the early season before your December camps.  On Friday you will participate in technical freeskiing with CSIA/CSC/AOA coaches and on Saturday you will run through gate/skill environments. ATHLETE: Check-In Opens 8:30am On-Snow 9:30am-2:30pm Lunch 11:30-12:30 Pick up 2:45pm
  • Dec 7, 12:30-2:30pm All female athletes will be hosted by Fast and Female for a Power Hour Chat – 2 hour fun filled, non-competitive indoor event for girls that connect participates with inspiring female athlete role models and equip them with empowering skills for sport and life.
  • DEC 6 & 7, AOA ALUMNI: We will be inviting some of AOA’s legend alumni including Luke Sauder, Graydon Oldfield, Todd Brooker to evaluate and demonstrate skills, encourage the athletes and coaches and share their love for the sport.
  • DEC 6 & 7, AOA OFFICIALS COURSES: Level 1-2 courses will be made available for visiting parents and officials wanting to upgrade their training.
  • TOP ONTARIO COACHES: AOA has secured some of Ontario and Canada’s best coaches to evaluate and guide the athletes. Included so far are Pete Metzger, Peter Craik, Dave Campbell and Rick Cook.
  • AOA PARTNER SUPPLIERS including long time AOA partner, Sporting Life will be on site to support the kids with any equipment concerns. Sorry no demo skis will be available for testing.
  • GS SKIS ONLY! 
  • BOTH DAYS ARE MANDATORY…Coaches & Athletes must commit to both the Friday and Saturday as Day 1 leads into Day 2. Sorry, we cannot accommodate 1-day participation.

Athletes and coaches will come away from the Dec 6-7 KickStart event stronger and more confident on their skis.  Athletes and coaches will learn together, on-snow over 2 days of this skill development SUPER CAMP designed and delivered by the provinces top coaches and instructors.  Coaches can attend with or without their athletes, and athletes can attend with or without their coach.  Skills are the foundation for great racers – join AOA in building that foundation for future ski race excellence!
